Avulsion of Deep MCL at the Proximal Attachment to the Medial Femoral Condyle

چکیده
The medial collateral ligament (MCL) is the most commonly injured ligament of the knee joint. Proximal superficial medial collateral ligament (MCL) tears occur more frequently than do distal ones. Isolated avulsion of deep MCL is not well described in literature. We report a 61-year-old man with a valgus injury of his left knee joint after a MVA. Radiological and magnetic resonance imaging of the affected knee joint revealed a complete avulsion fracture of proximal attachment of deep part of the medial collateral ligament. Such a pattern isolated deep MCL avulsion is rare.

Medial collateral ligament avulsion from both tibial and femoral attachments: a case report.
The medial collateral ligament (MCL) is the most commonly injured ligament of the knee joint. Proximal MCL tears occur more frequently than do distal ones. We report a 28-year-old man with a valgus injury of his left knee joint after a fall from a motorcycle. Magnetic resonance imaging of the affected knee joint revealed complete avulsion of the superficial MCL from both its femoral and tibial ...
متن کاملStructural properties of the primary medial knee ligaments.
BACKGROUND The structural properties of the individual components of the superficial medial collateral ligament (MCL), deep MCL, and posterior oblique ligament (POL) have not been studied in isolation. To define the necessary strength requirements for an anatomical medial knee reconstruction, knowledge of these structural properties is necessary. HYPOTHESIS The components of the superficial M...
متن کاملAvulsion of the Femoral Attachment of the Medial Collateral Ligament of the Knee Associated to Complete Tear of the Posterior Cruciate Ligament: A Case Report.
Medial collateral ligament (MCL) of the knee is one of the most commonly injured ligaments of the knee. Incidence of posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injuries can vary widely. Conservative treatment has shown good clinical outcomes and relatively rapid return to play in both injuries alone. We present the case of a 38-year-old male who presented a combined MCL avulsion injury and PCL tear trea...
متن کاملFunctional Anatomy and Classification of Medial Colateral Ligament Injuries: Outline
ANATOMY: The medial collateral ligament (MCL) is one of four major ligaments that supports the knee and is the primary static stabilizer against valgus rotation of the joint. It consists of two components, the superficial (sMCL) and deep MCL (dMCL). The sMCL has one femoral and two tibial attachments. The femoral attachment is situated on the medial epicondyle. The proximal attachment blends in...
متن کاملSkeletal Tuberculosis Presenting as a Small Cystic Lesion in the Medial Femoral Condyle
Skeletal tuberculosis is an unusual disease involving bone and joints and it may have different manifestations. This report introduces a 25-year-old woman suffering from chronic knee pain without any response to conservative treatments for one year. X-ray was normal but CT-scan and MRI indicated a small lesion in medial condyle of the femur. The patient underwent percutaneous CT-guided biopsy...
